In the remote mountain villages of Solukhumbu, Nepal, access to quality education is far from guaranteed. Yet it is precisely there that every child’s future begins. For many years, the Chimding Foundation stood for care, dedication, and the belief that education can change lives. Through the right guidance and strong local collaboration, children were given the opportunity to find their own path. Today, we are committed to continuing this work and carrying forward the legacy of the Chimding Foundation.

Marianne Mondeel, the driving force behind the Chimding Foundation, devoted herself wholeheartedly for many years to the villages of Nepal, mainly to the region of Solukhumbu. Thanks to her commitment, five libraries have now been established in collaboration with the local communities. To improve education, work was also carried out—together with the local population and ECEC Nepal (Early Childhood Education Centre)—to train local teachers. Rather than sending Dutch teachers to Nepal, the focus was on strengthening local educators, ensuring that education better aligns with the culture, language, and living conditions of the villages themselves.
After her passing, the foundation was dissolved. We are committed to keeping her dream alive and continuing this meaningful work through a new foundation. The project stands on a solid foundation precisely because of its strong local partnerships. We aim to continue it through grants and new initiatives. To make this possible, we are establishing a new foundation. This step is essential to realize our ambitions and to ensure the continuity of the project.
Establishing this new foundation requires €1,500. We therefore ask for a contribution from everyone who supports this project and values sustainable collaboration with Nepal. Your support will enable us to lay the right foundation for future grants and the further growth of this meaningful project.
